Iran’s Nat’l Quran Contest for Students Slated for December

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 41st edition of the national Quran, Etrat and prayer competition for Iranian school students will kick off in mid-December.

Grade one to twelve students in elementary and high schools across the country will take part in the preliminary stage next month during the Quran and Etrat Week of schools.

The categories of the contest include Quran memorization, recitation, Adhan (call to prayer), prayer recitation, choral recitation, Quran interpretation, Nahj-ul-Balaqa, Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh, and Mahdism discourse.

Some of the categories are organized in form of written exams while the rest will be held orally.

The preliminary stage is held at the school level and those performing the best will make it to the city, regional, provincial and country levels.

The Ministry of Education annually organizes the nationwide competition with the aim of promoting Quranic and religious teachings among school students.

Top winners in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran and recitation will represent Iran in the international Quran contest for school students.
